Honey’s Highlights

With this sort of thing, I really don't know what to call this. It seems almost like Madoka Magica meets Occultic;Nine meets the Monogatari series.

Ahhhhh this is that mobile game that has art remnicient of Catherine by ATLUS. I have a strong feeling that this is going to be either very very good and engaging or it is going to lose us almost immediately.

Wait what? So there are witches? Could this be like Flip Flappers where we know very little and have to learn it through the experiences of a character? I don't get it!

That is a safe bet. We can see that Haruto is going to go on an adventure, but we do not know what it is exactly. This is for those seinen fans! Get ready to think a lot and hard.

Synopsis

“'Dream World' An expanding secret world beyond the red door.
Dreams and reality.
The valley between consciousness and unconsciousness...
The many people who have dreams have had their hearts captured by this world where your hopes can be set free and converted.
And so tonight, one more lost traveler will visit the Dream World.”

One day, always-dreaming Haruto Tsukishiro was trying to fall back asleep in his room when he happened to slip into someone else’s dream - that of witches whose hearts had been captured in the world of dreams. Rejecting reality and escaping into dreams, these witches had contracted “Sleeping Beauty Syndrome.”

Haruto, lost in the witches’ dream world, starts to meet and talk to the witches as he searches for the exit.

Three Episode Impression

18if tells the story of a dream world where our character Haruto wakes up. He meets a girl named Lily who calls him ‘Onii-san’ and tells him that they need to escape. Together with a talking cat, they follow her as they are pursued by a witch through a distorted reality. We learn that there is a disease where people can become trapped in the dream world and these witches need to be helped and cured even if they do not realize it. One by one, he helps them. The show is episodic in nature thus far, and if you are watching it, know that you are going to need to pay very close attention and just accept a lot as fact. It can be very confusing if you miss things. It seems like the witches each have a different variation of this disease and satisfying them in some way or another breaks the effect that they are under. This is dripping in seinen and psychology, so if you like a good mental challenge, then dive on in. If not, you may find this hard to keep up with.
