If you’re not aware, Jun Maeda is a Japanese writer, one who has written some of our favorite anime.

He’s an absolutely incredible writer, and it shows in his work. Angel Beats!, Clannad, Clannad: After Story, Fairy Tail and Kanon, Mr. Maeda put work into them all.

What you probably aren’t aware of are some of his other many accomplishments and those accomplishments are exactly what I aim to provide. With the news of his new project Charlotte coming out sometime in 2015, isn’t it best we know who wrote the story?

Jun Maeda works for the video game brand titled Key, mainly as a writer, lyricist and musical composer. He was born in 1975 on January 3rd, so if you would like to send some birthday wishes remember to do so then!

1. Music

Did you know Mr. Maeda writes and composes music used in his games and shows? Talk about a man of many talents! It’s difficult enough writing the storyline and dialogue for a story, believe me I know, but to write the music as well? Not to mention the composing!

He has worked on the music for all of Key’s titles except for Planetarian: The Reverie of a Little Planet and Rewrite Harvest Festa!, which is an accomplishment all on its own! In 2011 he started his own record label named Flaming June. On April 25, 2012 he released his first concept album form his new record label titled Owari no Hoshi no Love Song with Yanagi!

2. Video Games

In his early career he stuck specifically to video games as he could not find a job working with music, and ended up as a scenario writer.

He initially went for a scenario writer for adult games, due to the inexperience in scenario writing for video games. At one point he took a month and wrote a 300 page long erotic story intending to sell it to a video game company, and ended up with Scoop.

In 1997 he contributed as the scenario writer for their first video game, Chaos Queen Ryōko; however, due to working conditions he left Scoop soon after and ended up with the company Tactics where he helped produce Moon. and One: Kagayaku Kisetsu e.

After seeing the reception, Maeda and a few others from Tactics left the company to work for the video game publishing company VisualArt’s where they formed their own video game brand titled, Key.

3. Psychology

Mr. Maeda attended Chukyo University which is a private university established in 1954 in the Aichi Prefecture. He was able to graduate with a degree in psychology, psychology!

Not only is he a writer and composer, he’s got a degree in psychology that he more than likely uses in his stories. It really shows with Angel Beats!, where he makes even the happy ending hit you right in the feels.

So there really is no telling which direction he’s going to take Charlotte, the painful route is probably the better assumption!

With a fantastic background and an assortment of skills, I’m absolutely positive Mr. Maeda will not disappoint his fans with Charlotte, whether it’s a tear-jerker from hell or a Slice of Life I’m absolutely positive it’ll be a headlining anime!
