Both anime revolve around “common” students who suddenly find themselves dumped into a different world. Also, both characters discover that the other world is actually their real home and they must get use to the sometimes strange and bizarre customs.

Both Miaka and Yuri are pushed into another world, where they must play an important role for the sake of the country: a high Priestess and a Demon King. • Aired: Apr. 2006 - June 2006

Haruhi Fujioka is a bright and talented student of Ouran High School, an academy for elite students. Looking for a quiet place to study, she accidentally finds the Host Club. Led by “The King” Tamaki, and with the most beautiful boys as members, the club goal is to entertain the girls in the academy. Trying to get away from the boys, Haruhi drops a very expensive vase (8,000,000 yen). Then, she is forced to work for them to repay her debt, because all of them think that she is actually a guy. Surprisingly, they’ll discover that she is a natural born host.

Although the story seems to be different from Kyou Kara Maou!, the feeling when you watch it is the same: in both there is a funny gender misunderstanding. Here, all of the Host Club members feel somehow attracted to Haruhi, and she is quite popular among the girls too, while in Kyou Kara Maou!, Yuri ends up engaged with Wolfram. Both of these anime flirt with the Shounen Ai genre.

4. 07-Ghost

  • Episodes: 25

After a failed attempt to kill that person, a high-ranking official, Teito must run away from the academy. Now, he’ll be chased by the Military and also by evil beings known as Kor, and the legendary Seven Ghosts will protect him.

Teito and Yuri have a big similarity, though they have special powers (they’re the powerful ones indeed), they’re surrounded by a bunch of hot bishonen who want to protect them. In both anime, most of the jokes and the humor points are built around the boy’s love, which is implied but never shown.

5. Maoyuu Maou Yuusha (Maoyuu- Archenemy & Hero)

He will never succeed in his mission of ending the war, because the world profits from it. They make a pact to work together for creating a new world where war is no longer needed.

The background of these two anime is very similar: both are set in a fantasy realm in feudal time. Both series are focused in a Maou who is not evil at all. In fact, they are kind hearted and their goal is to end war and conflict and reigning in peace. Both anime start with a sort of engagement of the main couple. Yuri propose to Wolfram, and Yuusha makes a contract with the Dark Lady.
