Ashiya had his energy drained by a youkai during his first week of school so he went to look for help. Help came at the Mononokean, a spirit tea room, where Abeno spends his time between jobs. Abeno has one job: to send spirits back to where they belong in the underworld. If Ashiya is going to get Abeno to help him, he’s going to have to start serving Abeno in his spare time.

Fukigen na Mononokean is the top anime like Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou without a doubt. Both Ashiya and Yuushi are put into situations where they are forced to interact with youkai, but rather than be put off by what goes on, Yuushi and Ashiya develop bonds with the youkai. Unlike Abeno, Ashiya realizes there is more to youkai than the trouble they cause and he goes out of his way to help youkai in trouble. Ashiya and Yuushi are very similar in personalities in that they are both rather optimistic individuals and really feel attached to this new lifestyle that is presented to them. If you really want an anime like Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou, Fukigen na Mononokean is your anime.

Takashi Natsume has always been able to see youkai and they have constantly plagued him. One day, Natsume finds out that the Yuujinchou or “Book of Friends” was left to him by his grandmother who has passed. The Yuujinchou holds names of spirits whom his grandmother was able to tame, but now that Natsume is the holder o the Yuujinchou, the youkai plague him to attain their freedom. Natsume only wants peace in his life, but the only one who seems to care about him is a cat-like youkai named Madara. Madara will aid Natsume as he continues to live his life and tackle the youkai who are bothering him.

Natsume and Yuushi are different in terms of circumstances, however, there is no doubt that Natsume Yuujinchou is an anime like Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou. Both Natsume and Yuushi begin to develop an understanding for the youkai around them and they become a part of their everyday lives. Both anime are also very slice of life and enjoyable to watch. Natsume Yuujinchou may have a lot more youkai, but it’s still a great light hearted anime to watch when you just want to relax. It’s sweet and heartwarming. How could you say no?

Half-human, half-monster living beings are now walking amongst society and our main character and high school bio teacher, Tetsuo Takahashi is interested in finding out about that. While some are a bit wary, Takahashi wants to learn more about how they deal with everyday life. It is at Takahashi’s school, Shibasaki High, that he gets to interact with other Demi-human students. In fact, there’s also a Demi-human teacher as well. Here, Takahashi gets to meet the vampire Hikari, the dullahan Machi, the snow woman Yuki, and the succubus Sakie.

In Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou, Yuushi slowly learns things about each of the youkai around him. In the same manner, Takahashi learns about each of the Demi girls in Demi-chan wa Kataritai. The Demi girls surprise Takahashi with their character and personality similar to the youkai and Yuushi. The Demi girls even have their own difficulties with the situations they are put in due to their being Demi-monsters. It’s all up to Takahashi to help the Demis out and really learn what it means to be a Demi-monster, Demi-human in this anime like Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou.

Youkai and other supernatural beings bother Kimihiro Watanuki on a regular basis, but his supernatural ability is too strong to ignore them. One day, when Watanuki is especially bothered by the youkai, Watanuki is pulled towards a house where a mysterious woman named Yuuko resides. Yuuko has the power to help Watanuki but it’ll come at a price. Watanuki will have to work for Yuuko in exchange for her help!

xxxHolic is very similar to Fukigen na Mononokean and Natsume Yuujinchou, so it is no surprise to see it on our list of anime like Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou. Watanuki has to deal with all of these odd youkai against his will, like Yuushi, but as he ventures out with Yuuko, he learns a lot more about each of the youkai. In fact, Watanuki is one of the few who has the ability to really help the youkai when they need it. With two cours, Watanuki will have plenty of mystery and adventure to go through in xxxHolic as he learns and grows to accept the power that gives him the ability to be with youkai.

Fushimi is a cute but clumsy girl who has a crush on Tanbabashi Kouji. If only she were so shy, she could confess! However, Fushimi is kind-hearted and willing to do what it takes to help others. One day, Fushimi comes across a fox pup who is in danger, so she saves it despite being late for school. As thanks for her kindness, Uka-no-Mitama-no-Kami, the goddess who resides at Inari Shrine, will grant a wish of Fushimi’s, but actually, she accidentally gives Fushimi a small portion of her own power!

In this anime like Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou, what really shares a connection are our two main characters Fushimi and Yuushi. They both want to continue down their supernatural path because of the friendships and bonds they hold here. Fushimi is earnest, much like Yuushi, and very kind hearted. She can be shy and not very good at standing up for herself, but she is just so endearing. The story in Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha is very sweet and punctuated by bits of drama. There is more drama than in Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou, but if that’s the part that you like about the anime, then Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha is the anime for you.

When you need it, you may find a telephone number that will lead you to help. This phone number belongs to Yato, a minor god who calls himself the “Delivery God”. Yato dreams of becoming a great god with great power, but he does not even have a shrine to himself. For now, Yato is trying to realize his dream one odd job at a time. One day, Iki Hiyori comes across Yato when she attempts to save him from an oncoming car. She almost gets hit but lives, however, her soul was loosened so that Hiyori can leave her body. Is it due to this circumstance that Hiyori requests Yato’s services and hopefully, they can both help each other out.

Last on our list of anime like Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou but certainly, not least is Noragami. Just like Yuushi, Hiyori gets pulled into the world of the supernatural through no fault of her own, but as she learns the underbelly of the world of Japanese gods, she really becomes attached to each of the characters. Her life is going to be full of drama now that she has decided on asking for Yato’s help and truly, you can see just how much they change each other for the better. Hiyori will have to learn about each god and their past and present to truly understand how this world of Japanese gods works in Noragami in order to really help any one god out. However, only Hiyori has the power to really help the one who needs it most, Yato.
