Yeah. When something is done right, like Joker Game, Gangsta, or Black Lagoon, it’s done right. Revenge, Murder, plotting, and more. This is the perfect seinen.

Synopsis

The story starts in a time where alcohol is illegal, and the mafia has taken over the world.

This is Lawless, a city with a bustling moonshine black market. After some time away, Avilio sets foot in this city - the city where his family was killed in the past, due to a conflict with the mafia.

One day, Avilio received a letter from a mysterious character. The letter lit the flames of desire for revenge within him and so he returned to Lawless. Here, he infiltrates the base of his enemies, the Vanetti family, and gets close to the son of Don Vanetti, Nero, in order to get his revenge.

One killing calls for another, one revenge connects to a new form of revenge. What will the end of this 91-day long story have in store for these men, led by such sorrowful fate?

Three Episode Impression

The first episode really hits you immediately because of how sudden everything happens. We see that Avilio is effected severely by witnessing the execution style death of his mother and brother, and then receives a letter, prompting him to return to Lawless for retribution. The second episode gets even better as Avilio reunites with an old friend and the two work together to sell and distribute liquor in a risky fashion in order to move in closer to the Vanettis. The two are put in high pressure situations where they have to assassinate one of the members of the family, and have plans go sour. The third episode is where things truly get intense, when Avilio attends a wedding in order to help Vanno seek out who killed his partner. What Avilio later discovers is something that throws him over the edge, and the episode ends on such a high you're left in absolute suspense. We thought the show really had an amazing story from the beginning, and it carried through for most of the episodes. We would've preferred to know more about his family and their ties with the mafia, but that small minus gets overshadowed by the intense action and heart string pulling suspense this show offers entirely. A must watch right now!
