Honey's Anime attended AnimeJapan 2017 held in Tokyo today (March 25th) as press, and this is one of short reports of stages we covered.
When it comes to events at AnimeJapan 2017, there was one that topped them all: a special stage dedicated to Sword Art Online The Movie - Ordinal Scale. This event received the most applicants out of all the events held at the Red Stage of the convention. This comes as an even bigger surprise when you realize that SAO Ordinal Scale is not an upcoming movie, but has already premiered. Within its first six weeks on screen, the movie has drawn around 1.4 million people to the cinemas and grossed more than 2 billion Japanese Yen in Japan alone. Not bad at all, if you ask us.
The main cast was gathered on stage, consisting of Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Kirito), Haruka Tomatsu (Asuna), Kanae Itoh (Yui), Rina Hidaka (Silica), Ayahi Takagaki (Lisbeth), and Ayana Taketasu (Liefa). The voice actors gave the audience a warm welcome as well as an insight into the universe of Sword Art Online. While contemplating about different alternative functions of the so-called Augma (an augmented reality device in SAO), the cast was joking constantly and creating a fun atmosphere.
At the end of the event a special guest made a surprise appearance: singer LiSA performed her OP song "Catch the Moment" while the crowd was going wild. If you haven't watched Sword Art Online Ordinal Scale yet, it's about time to change that.
