Nana? Beck? Sakamichi no Apollon? Hibike Euphonium? Uta no Prince Sama? Which one is this show most like?

Show by Rock is a good place to start! What we need is something that is more balanced. See, this anime has idols with real live vocals of the actual seiyuu performing! They have even made their own band in real life to support the anime series. So this is a unique thing. Another close anime might be Tsukiuta since they had a whole concept and line of merchandise going before the series was launched.

Interesting. I would like to see where this anime goes. In the meantime, I will be checking out the PVs!

Synopsis

Kasumi has been searching for something as sparkly and exciting as the ‘beat of the stars’ since she heard it as a child when she looked up at the night sky.

One day just after she enters high school, she comes across a star-shaped guitar in an antique pawn shop storehouse. With this, she feels a new kind of excitement, and the feelings she had always locked up inside herself start to break out.

Four other girls have also been searching for a place where they can shine. Kasumi discovers that the five of them together can produce a sound unlike anything she could play alone.

“We’re definitely going to perform here!”

Three Episode Impression

BanG Dream! almost immediately gives off the feeling of Love Live! as we are reminded of a group of girls who merely want to make it big. The main character, Kasumi falls in love with a star-shaped guitar, which ignites her desire to become a guitarist and perform. What else does this sound like? It reminds us of K-on! with the cute girls and casual desire to perform music. It could even remind some viewers of Long Riders and Bakuon!! While the girls are your typical cute girls and follow the same guideline, BanG Dream! could be a fun watch for many viewers as it is very casual and laid back. Don’t expect the same drama as Hibike Euphonium, but it might be just the anime for those who like the Light Music Club or slice of life.
