Synopsis

Bonobono, a baby sea otter, and his friends Araiguma-kun and Shimarisu-kun all live together in the forest along with others. Together they come into contact with many things and while joking and playing along, they ask philosophical questions about 'what are living things?'

Three Episode Impression

Bonobono is a children’s anime that was created in the 80s. It started out as a manga before getting the anime series, two movies, and even two video games. It has lived on as children’s series of picture books before getting rebooted as its current incarnation this past Spring 2016. The series follows the very young Bonobono, a baby sea otter, as he tries to figure out the world with the help of his friends Shimarisu (a squirrel) and Araiguma (a raccoon). Together, they have humorous adventures and learn about life, and that really is about it. Bonobono may not be something that caters to the tastes of a seasoned anime fan, but this series is great for those who have younger siblings they are trying to get into anime. Overall the series is very slow paced and the humor is very simple, but other than that, it can be a good watch.
