What You Need to Know:
- The newest live-action Death Note movie is under production and set to hit Japanese cinema screens in autumn this year.
- For those that haven't heard, the story of Death Note 2016 takes place ten years after Light Yagami and L's battle. Once again shinigami have dropped Death Notes down to earth, and L's successor and the Death Note special investigation force, including Matsuda from the original series, must fight the consequences. This new film will focus on one of the rules that were set in the original series, but have not yet been used in the narrative - that only six Death Notes can exist.
- The latest update regarding the series comes in the form of a new cast member announcement. It has been revealed that Rina Kawaei, a former AKB48 member, has joined the cast as one of the Death Note users, Sakura Aoi. According to her producer, the gap between her idol appearance and her role in the film is a sight to see. Check out the visual below!
