With so many funny or just plain good harem anime out there today, which ones prove their mettle and go beyond the simple harem focus to develop a good plot to keep us entertained the whole time as well?

Here we’re going to look further into ten different anime that all have a harem feature as well as a good story to keep you watching. Believe me, we haven’t forgotten about all that PLOT either!

10. Is This a Zombie?

Japanese: Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka?

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Jan 2011 – Mar 2011

Aikawa Ayumu is a zombie, that wasn’t always a zombie. As it so happens he was a regular high school student until he crossed paths with a serial killer who subsequently did what serial killers do, killed him.

Eucliwood Hellscythe decided to revive him as her own personal servant in the form of a zombie; due to unforeseen circumstances he now has to fight Megalo!

With enough plot and PLOT to keep you entertained through the entire series, it’s a fantastic watch with very interesting characters and a fun storyline.

9. To LOVE-Ru

  • Episodes: 26
  • Aired: Apr 2008 – Sep 2008

Rito Yuuki just cannot find it in himself to confess to the girl he’s in love with, Haruna Sairenji. Moping in the bathtub one day from still not being able to tell her, a very mysterious, very naked girl appears in the bathtub with him by the name of Lala Deviluke.

Lala is an alien from the planet Deviluke and is the current heir to the throne; instead of marrying a suitor from her home planet she instead decides she wants to marry Rito!

Overall this is a very fun anime to see with an awesome amount of comedy mixed with a great story.

8. Infinite Stratos

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Jan 2011 – Apr 2011
Armored exoskeletons are built by Japan and named Infinite Stratos. The IS skeletons are only wearable and useable by women until Orimura Ichika, a 15 year old boy, accidentally discovers he too can power these incredible machines.

Because of this and the confusion on how a male can use the IS, he is sent to the all women school to learn how to properly use the exoskeleton.

The anime itself starts off a little slow in my opinion but if you can stick through that, it’s a great anime to see. The harem nature doesn’t take away from the main story at all which was something I was worried about, but instead gives it something extra and actually helps to further along the story.

7. The Pervert Prince and the Stony Cat

Japanese: Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Apr 2013 – Jun 2013

Youto Yokodera is a pervert, but being at that age can you blame him? There’s a legend that says if you make a wish to the cat statue up on the hill it will be granted, so that’s just what he sets off to do.

When he gets to the statue though he encounters Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi, a girl who loses her ability to display her emotions because of a wish made at the cat herself.

This is one of the funniest harem/ecchi anime I have personally seen and with no shortage of PLOT it really is a blast to follow through this series!

6. High School of the Dead

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Jul 2010 – Sep 2010

A disease has run rampant across Japan (possibly the entirety of the world) and is turning people into zombies! A group of high school students only wish is to survive through this new apocalypse, to survive and thrive.

While this show was cut off short (for now) it still features that harem factor but isn’t completely taken over by it; which is beneficial in this case.

By far this anime has received a massive US following – and rightly so! The complete package of excitement and comedy with ecchi and harem tones really pushes this anime to the top of most lists!

5. Heaven’s Lost Property

Japanese: Sora no Otoshimono

  • Episodes: 13
  • Aired: Oct 2009 – Dec 2009

Sakurai Tomoki keeps having the same dream that wakes him up in tears, the same dream where an upperclassman believes is a whole new continent.

Later on one day he waits under a cherry tree for his childhood friend Suguta and an angel falls from the sky! What he soon discovers is that he’s become this “angel’s” new master!

This is a comedy heavy anime filled with flying panties and love interests everywhere! If you’ve missed out on this show so far then you’re missing out in general!

4. Rosario + Vampire

  • Episodes: 13
  • Aired: Jan 2008 – Mar 2008

Tsukune Aono has been sent to a monster academy! Being a normal student and unknowingly being sent to a school for monsters of all shapes and sizes (all disguised as humans) can be tough, but instead of leaving he meets Moka the Vampire and decides to stay.

Throughout this series you’re left laughing and having a great time. The artwork is phenomenal and the story keeps you watching, the characters are interesting to follow making Rosario one of the best harem anime to see!

3. High School DxD

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Jan 2012 – Mar 2012

Issei Hyodo wants nothing more than his own personal harem – but with his luck that’s not likely to happen. He finally gets a date with a beautiful woman, but thanks to his luck she turns out to be a vicious fallen angel and kills him!

He gets reincarnated as a devil with whom else to be his new master but the fallen angel that saved him?

This is one of those anime that keep you laughing the whole way through, rooting for Issei to get his own harem out of death, since his life is technically over!

2. Campione!

Japanese: Matsurowanu Kamigami to Kamigoroshi no Maou

  • Episodes: 13
  • Aired: Jul 2012 – Sep 2012

Kusanagi Godou does not find religion, religion finds Kusanagi Godou. After defeating the God of War in mortal combat (no Scorpion here though☹), he has become the new Campione, or God Slayer. It’s now become his job to fight other heretical gods when they try to bully their way in to places they don’t belong!

Throughout this anime it’s a giant adventure and a great time to simply sit and watch through it entirely. Because he’s so badass he earns his own harem which makes this even more fun as he gets into different debacles!

1. Love Hina

  • Episodes: 24
  • Aired: Apr 2000 – Sep 2000

Keitaro Urashima is a Tokyo U wannabe, failing his entrance exams more than once he decides to move into his grandmother’s hotel that has, unbeknownst to him, been transformed into an all-girls dormitory! It’s become his job to maintain the grounds and the dorm itself, all the while trying to keep out of the way of the girls (and doing a terrible job of it!).

This romantic comedy harem has stuck with me and many other fans throughout the years, so if you’re looking for a good romance in your life, this early 2000’s show needs to be your number one!

That closes us up in our list of the Top Ten Harem Anime!
