Why does this look exactly like Bubuki Buranki?
honey-surprised1 ID-0 - Spring 2017
Well that would be because this original anime too is made by Sanzigen.
honey-surprised1 ID-0 - Spring 2017
Gorou Taniguchi... Gorou Taniguchi... Why does that name sound familiar?
honey-surprised1 ID-0 - Spring 2017
Ever heard of Code Geass? s.CRY.ed? Planetes? Junketsu no Maria? He directed all of those too.
honey-surprised1 ID-0 - Spring 2017
But then this... is such a departure from what he has done.
honey-surprised1 ID-0 - Spring 2017
Yup! It seems like he is branching out. Though this anime could go any way really. It could question humanity like Ghost in the Shell SAC, or it could be a space adventure like Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo. You really don't know till you see it!!

Synopsis

“I-Machines” are a catch-all term for lage robots to perform work in harsh environments. Academy student Maya Mikuri runs into an accident while handling some I-Machine work-only to be rescued, still in I-Machine form, by a ship from Escavate, an Orchalt excavation firm and de-facto band of pirates. There, she finds herself forced to work as part of their crew…

As she works with the crew-each with their own idiosyncrasies-Maya will learn what being “human” really means.

Is it hope, or despair hiding in the lost memories?

Three Episode Impression

This anime is quite interesting, as it reminds me of Cowboy Bebop. Or generally, space pirates. Meet Maya Mikuri, a very innocent student at Planetary Alliance's academy who yearns for her scholarship to go to higher education. All of it was to change when, during an excavation gone wrong, her professor took part in an illegal mineral mining excavation and tried to sell her out.

She was then rescued by a group of illegal excavators and with no one to come and rescue her, she had no choice but to ‘work’ for the group until she can pay them a fee to transport her to a space station. This anime has a lot of potential from the first 3 episodes, and I do think it’s worth a watch. The character development is probably what will make this series gain popularity. So, watch away!
