This is clearly going to be Comartie High School but with a gender bender. So.... I expect good dashes of comedy!

I'm not sure though Honey-chan. It is going to have quite a bit fighting too. Is almost feels like a prequel to Great Teacher Onizuka.

You're both wrong, but Honey-chan you are closer. The school is in disarray as it appears from the trailers. So think like Beelzebub or even further back with Sakigake!! Otokojuku. PLUS Do not miss out on the gender bender character! Gotta love a good, strong female lead.

Ahhhhh so fighting, people being stupid, and more fighting. Sounds like it's my cup of tea.

Synopsis

Heroine Hinako Nakayama has lived in an orphanage for as long as she can remember, doesn’t know what her parents look like and doesn’t have a single relative. That is until one day, her older twin brother Hikaru appears before her and all of a sudden, she has to attend a boys school called Shishiku Private Academy in his place - a school famous for being the worst in the prefecture and full of delinquents.

Three Episode Impression

Kenka Banchou Otome –Girl Beats Boys follows the story of Hinako Nakayama as she is tricked into helping someone who pretends to have an accident. Through this, she is coerced by this boy, Hikaru, to go to his school, an all boys school, instead. She is, at first, shocked because she cannot go as a girl, but since she and Hikaru look almost the same, they swap clothes and away they go. Hikaru is the son of a yakuza. He claims to be her twin brother, and as such, he wants to avoid this school because it is incredibly violent. Kenka Banchou Otome follows Hinako as she goes through an extremely violent and rough high school life all while under the guise of a boy.

This is rough. It is that odd like 8-9 minutes long anime, so it feels longer than a short, but always leaves you unsatisfied since it is not a full 22 minutes. That being said, the show does have one decently redeeming quality, it laughs in the face of gender. Considering how open Japan used to be with gender, and still somewhat is, the show depicts Hinako and Hikaru swapping places, albeit with a little resistance, and shows a rather smooth transition. A lot of social issues are on the table for discussion right now in Japan, and while Japan is very slow to take action, this is a good step in the right direction. Enjoy Kenka Banchou Otome for the social aspects and less the feeble storyline.

Characters & Voice Actors List

Hinako Nakayama

Voice Actor: Hibiku Yamamura

Has lived in an orphanage for as long as she can remember and, under the institution’s policy, has learnt a variety of hand-to-hand fighting techniques since she was young. She ends up forced to attend Shishiku Private Academy, the worst school in the district that’s full of delinquents, by her older twin brother in order to take his place.

Totomaru Minowa

Voice Actor: KENN

As soon as he enrolled in the school, he tried to become the ruler delinquent in the class, but was quickly beaten down by the protagonist. Ever since then he has respected the protagonist and becomes best friends with her. A delinquent that doesn’t put on a front and gets on well with everyone, values spiritual bonds, and is always willing to help without asking for anything back. However, he’s also an idiot who doesn’t realise the protagonist is a girl, despite spending the most time with her.

Takayuki Konparu

Voice Actor: Shouta Aoi

From the next class over to the protagonist and the strongest in the year. Using Jujitsu, he ignores any difference in strength when he fights. He feels a sense of camaraderie with the protagonist, who is even smaller than him, and keeps an eye on her. He hates women because he believes the stereotype that women are weak, and would never believe in his wildest dreams that the protagonist is actually a girl.

Rintarou Kira

Voice Actor: Yoshimasa Hosoya

A second-year delinquent, said to be the strongest student for two years running. However, that’s just those around him making a fuss - he himself doesn’t have any interest in fighting to become number one. He doesn’t talk much, hates hanging out with people, and is always alone.

Yuta Mirako

Voice Actor: Tetsuya Kakihara

A second-year delinquent who is said to be just as strong as Kira. When he was in middle school, he was strong enough to be the boss of the whole school, but he suddenly transformed into an idol. He’s always wandering about with a smile on his face, however a part of him won’t let other people see past what’s on the surface.

Houou Onigashima

Voice Actor: Tomoaki Maeno

Hikaru’s older half-brother from a different mother, but very little is known about him. He’s lived apart from Hikaru since he was little, and Hikaru is prejudiced against him. Following the Onigashima family way, he enrolled in Shishiku Academy and became a legend who took over the whole school in less than a month.
