The mysterious allure of this series really does draw you in. It has a draw like Mahoutsukai no Yome where you want to know more, but it's also got a sense of danger about it.

That hit the nail on the head. I wonder if Rachel realizes how much danger she faces like Chise does. It also has that gritty depressing feeling that Steins;Gate embodies.

Synopsis

Rachel opens her eyes and finds herself in the lowest underground level of a building. She has no memories and no idea why she is here. She tries to get above ground, but the cutthroat Zack, who wanders throughout the building with a head covered in bandages and carries a sickle that looks like it belongs to a Shinigami (Death God), appears before her.

'I have a request… Please, kill me.'
'Help me get out of here and I will kill you.'

The strange bond that these two have, their 'oath', becomes stronger. What is waiting for them at the end? Why were they both locked up in here exactly? What is the fate that these two bear? While being fully prepared to die, both of them set out to escape this locked building.

Three Episode Impression

Rachel wakes up somewhere and has no memory of whom she is. She gets in an elevator that goes to the next floor of some basement. She is unbothered by how desolate this area is until Zack, a boy in bandages and a giant scythe appears ready to kill her. She evades him, making it to the next floor wheremeets a doctor who is supposed to help her, but really wants to rip out her eyes. Zack comes running but not because he wants to save her, but because he wants to be the one to kill her. Yes, we know how odd this is. Zack wants out too, so Rachel makes him a deal: get her out and he can kill her. The two set off meeting a new gravedigger character named Eddie who wears what appears to be a pumpkin. He has made a grave for her so he wants to be the one to kill her… Every floor in this building is dangerous.

This time around, the characters are good, though we do have to say we are a bit disappointed that the best that Nobuhiko Okamoto could do for Zack is just rehash Accelerator, who by the way is better than Zack in every way. The series overall tries a bit too hard to be spooky. While it does make a good story thus far, it is trying a bit too hard. The music is well done and the art is okay. The series does have this habit of going from being very quiet to violent when someone is dying really fast, so you can’t really assume what is going to happen next. 2 of the 5 guardians died in the first three episodes so we wonder how long this escape game will actually last.
