Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni: Good Cop Bad Cop

Introduction

Welcome to our very first Good Cop Bad Cop article, where we’ll be questioning the crimes and alibis of the latest anime series. For our first round we’re taking a look at Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni, aka Horny Priest T(r)aps Drunk Girl: The Anime. As most of you probably know, this short series has several different versions, from highly censored to full-on hentai - we’ll be talking about the latter, but don’t worry, it’ll be safe for work. Just watch out for spoilers up to episode six. So will Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni walk free with its head held high, or is it time to lock up this sexy short for good? Read on and judge away…

Good Cop: Not Just For Men

So what has this anime got going for it? Well, first off, you can actually see the guy’s face…and he’s hot. Seeing the guy (apart from his, ahem, you-know-what) in hentai is quite rare, as it’s mostly made for straight men to consume - and we all know straight men don’t want to look at other men because no homo, bro. You can even see Takahide’s flushed face in the act, alluding to the fact this is a hentai made for the ladies.

We can also see this in the way the story is told through Mio’s thoughts - if this was any other hentai, the girl would be screaming everything aloud for the guy’s benefit, and all thoughts would be from the male character’s point of view. The fact that most of Mio’s thoughts also surround how she’s head-over-heels for Takahide shows the romantic side to Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni.

Finally, you can tell in this anime that Mio actually wants it. Yes, she’s embarrassed. Yes, she says no a few times because she’s reluctant to admit that she’s kinda into the whole sexy-times thing, but that’s something that comes with Japanese culture. You can also see that Takahide cares about Mio - he actually asks if, rather than tells her that, it feels good, and when they finally go all the way, he tells her repeatedly that he loves her. This isn’t just smut - it’s smut with feelings!

Bad Cop: Put Some Effort In

As we all know, Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni is a short. What no one actually knows is why the hell they decided to do that. Four minutes of animation a week, with around 30 seconds of hentai content - what’s the point? Just shove it all in an OVA and be done with it. Also what’s with all the different levels of censorship? The clean version might as well not exist since the whole set up is leading up to the hentai bits.

Considering it’s so short, you’d think they would have put some effort into the animation. Well, think again. It’s kind of difficult to tell how hot Takahide is when he starts moving and all his features congregate to the wrong part of his face. If you’re lucky, he ends up looking like Saitama from One-Punch Man. If you catch him in the wrong frame, he looks more like a potato. Don’t even get me started on the kissing scenes. You can’t look at the image above and tell me it doesn’t look like they’re both desperately trying to blow air into each other’s mouth. Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni has also taken a lazy page out of the hentai anime creator’s book by using the same animation cuts on repeat for most of the hentai scenes.

While this anime might be the newest hentai for girls on the anime block, that doesn’t stop it from being completely unoriginal story-wise. Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni is packed full of outdated shoujo tropes. First love that doesn’t seem to like the female protagonist back but has secretly loved her all along? Check. Kabedon? We’ve got you covered? The suddenly-a-fiancée? Seen it. Mouth-to-mouth water drinking? We’ve got it all! Let’s face it - Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni isn’t smut with feelings, it’s shoujo with porn forced in.
