How Naive of the Girls...

Alfonso "Fonzy" Ortiz

This week, I would like to talk about a certain moment in Akiba’s Trip The Animation which is pretty much the second half of the episode. Akiba’s Trip shows Akihabara City in the most accurate way possible. From the Maid Cafes (actually keeping the same name for the series, for the most part), to Carl’s Jr being featured in an anime for the first time since its opening (which was actually less than a year ago).

The moment that had my attention was when the girls, Arisa, Niwaka, and Matome, were approached by a famous singer turned producer, Chibusa Benikage, who wanted to turn them into Idols. Little did they know, and I mean little, they were participating in photo shoots which helped them towards their Idol fame but things would start to get weird. Before you knew it, the girls were all of a sudden being photographed eating phallic-looking edibles, while the photographer shouted out “いいね!” (That’s Good!) in a somewhat perverted way. This happens consecutively with each photo and the response from the photographer sounds more perverse than the previous one.

Turns out, they were actually scouted as actors in a Japanese porno! This becomes clear when all of a sudden, four naked men in their undies and one bed come into play… How naive! Yet, the events leading to this moment were pretty obvious as soon as the phallic edibles were presented. Needless to say, the whole situation was funny and I couldn’t be more shocked, confused, and then, laughing hysterically during the whole situation… Aye…

All in all, there are some very nice ecchi scenes of Arisa, and maybe, Niwaka, but that can’t be said for Matome who was wearing a one piece swimsuit… But we digress! I can’t wait to see what kind of other shenanigans the girls get into next week, if they do? Oh, God, I hope they do!

I knew what was happening and I wanted to see sooo much more! Give me my fix!

Because I am a succubus.

Nagareboshi

Call it terrible to laugh at someone’s misfortune, but the extreme lengths that the succubus aka Sakie Satou goes to in order to avoid direct contact as well as enticing others, is hilarious. We were treated to a taste of it last week when she tried to avoid Tetsuo, but this time she spends the whole episode trying to avoid everyone. The poor students bump into her and are turned on. She has to take the very early train (usually about 5am) and the last train or a very late one, about 11pm ish. She cannot even sleep because the aphrodisiac effects leak out making others suddenly feel turned on. She cannot even get married! It is pretty funny though when she turns on Tetsuo hardcore but he keeps it up to make her feel better.

What is really cute about this series is that in all of it’s humor between Hikari and Kyoko, Sakie gets her own tender moment to show that even though they are demi-humans, they cannot all be thrown under one term. Even then at the end, good ole oblivious Kyoko cannot realize that Sakie really likes Tetso. But instead they are just gushing about how much they like him. It’s cute and considering some of the more racy topics that they do cover like sex, which is an issue that a teacher should NEVER discuss with a student one on one, they come to the cute conclusion that they both like him without saying it directly or possibly realizing it.

I did not realize how much this show would make me laugh this season, but I am really glad I gave it a chance. I think that everyone should!

This is the best episode thus far!

Surprise Lesbians are the Best Kind of Surprise

Ellyn Barnes

In the second episode of Kuzu no Honkai, we get introduced to more characters and therefore yet more heartache. How many instances of unrequited love can one anime get? It seems like Kuzu no Honkai is trying to win that particular medal. Not only do we meet Moka, Mugi’s childhood friend who has expected him to become her ‘prince’ since childhood, but also Ecchan - Hanabi’s only friend, who feels something more than friendship for her.

While fans of the manga may have been aware of this particular one-sided crush, I was not, and boy was it a pleasant surprise. It’s refreshing that not every possible pairing in this anime is strictly heterosexual, like so many are. It was also refreshing how realistic Ecchan’s feelings are, both her initial worries about staying over at Hanabi’s house as well as her loss of control ending in a super hot moment. One minute Ecchan is flustered, standing in Hanabi’s doorway, the next she’s passionately locking lips with her in bed, the dark room doing nothing to hide their flushed faces or quiet pants.

So, Kuzu no Honkai has surprised us with the first lesbian kiss of the season - but will there be more? There are so many questions I hope to see answered next episode, like what happened between Hanabi and Ecchan before they started making out? What will Hanabi do now that Ecchan has made her feelings for the other girl so clear? Will she go along with it, as she does with Mugi, or will she stop it from going any further? I can’t wait to find out.

Ecchan is so proactive!! It sucks that she’s probably going to get rejected, but I’m rooting for her!

Fifth Son

Jenangelx3

Ao no Exorcist has been pretty fun so far this season after it picked up where the first season left off. One thing that has really bothered me, or rather gripped at my emotions, is the exclusion of poor Okumura Rin for having the power of the blue flames and being Satan’s son, despite all that he has done for everyone. In episode 3, the episode even starts off with Rin having reconciled with Shima Renzou after forcing him to dine with him in the previous episode. This drives Miwa Konekomaru to go up to Renzou and question why he doesn’t continue ostracising Rin after breakfast. Who does that? Of course, Renzou says it is OK since he is the fifth son and not the first.

Now, if you choose to not like anyone, kudos to you for being hateful and ignorant. I am all for letting people be as stupid as they choose to be, but if someone shows an ounce of human decency and actually chooses to be open and accepting of another individual, then let them since everyone lets you be as ignorant as you’d like. There is no reason to force your own way of thinking on other people. I’m not a fan of bullying and when I see it in anime, it really bothers me.

What’s really going on between Shouichi and Hikari?

Title: Seiren Ep. 3

Rod Locksley

Seiren is already on it’s third episode, and no one can deny that Hikari Tsuneki is definitely our new waifu — or at least, mine. Beautiful, popular and very, very seductive, this girl has managed to have fun to the maximum in what seemed like a rather boring study vacation, but now we have huge doubts about her true intentions.

After appearing by surprise in Shouichi's bedroom, soaked and cold, we discovered that she is capable of being totally sexy even in men's sportswear, and just as we were amazed by her beauty, so did this lucky boy. At first it seemed like a friendship for interest, but little by little Hikari and Shouichi spent more time together and got to know each other. Of course, Hikari is always making the timid Shouichi very uncomfortable.

In this week’s episode we had our dose of fanservice, and no one can refuse to see Hikari Tsuneki in a bikini and with her hair up. However, when everything seemed to be heading towards a nice romance, we now have doubts and suspicions between both... and with a third boy in discord. I do not know if there is (or was) something between Hikari and Araki Tatsuya, but what we all know is that Shouichi will inevitably feel jealous. In fact, I can’t blame him for being attracted to her, much less for that "surprise" between his legs while enjoying the pool, where we also had one of the best comedy scenes so far this season. If you ask me, ? can’t wait to see more of this anime.

The Innocent Fairy

Lizzy Nyanko

In the second episode of Super Lovers, Ren has some concerns about how to show his affection towards Haru, all the while dealing with the confusion stemming from Haru staying with the boys. At the same time, him and Haru have just gotten more intimate than they have so far, so there’s a lot of both their minds.

While at school, Ren decides to ask his friend Juuzen how he… takes care of himself. Juuzen freaks out and takes him to Dr. Takamura, so he’ll answer his questions instead. Juuzen has just begged Ren to stay their class’ “Innocent Fairy” when Ren mentions that he wants to know how to do these things because he doesn’t think it’s fair to “be on the receiving end all the time”... This is followed by a very appropriate response of pure shock from both Juuzen and the doctor. Dr. Takamura immediately collects himself and in a very professional way tells little Ren to never say that to anybody ever again.

The sheer innocence in Ren’s questions, along with the impeccable comedic timing and reactions in this scene, made it one of the funniest moments this week, at least for this writer. And the best part is, this moment only sets up more comedic moments in the rest of the episode!
