Did Kazuya Just Get... Oh.

Nagareboshi

I do have to confess that watching Tsugumomo has been a guilty pleasure of mine this season. The characters, while quite odd in each of their own ways, come together to make what is essentially a retelling of Tenchi Muyo just slightly more raunchy and less spacey. While it is all good and fun, the first half of this episode is one of these weird, probably an homage to old movies, episodes where no one actually really speaks.

Moving beyond that though, the second half is about this classmate of Kazuya’s who has some cologne that he can wear that will make him irresistible to women. So, he douses himself in it and is drowning in his harem. This is still it becomes too much and the other guys begin hunting him down for the cologne. After a mishap, Kazuya gets doused in it, but safely makes it home to wash it off. Everything seems fine till his sister, Kiriha, Kukuri, Kokuyou, and Chisato all let themselves into the bath to wash him. They then very clearly umm… help him finish three times before deciding to use rock scissors paper to determine who gets to deflower him. I don’t know about you, but I was howling at this point with laughter. It’s always the other way around with the girl crying about this kind of thing, so to see Kazuya be terrified about the same situation is not only hilarious, but also slightly refreshing. It’s good to see that, while normally yes, this situation is not okay, studios have not forgotten what it was like to have a slightly shy or timid main character. Week after week too, this series is really turning into a Neo Tenchi Muyo and I cannot wait to see what next week will do.

Get outta here Kazuya. You gotta take these aggressive females one by one like a man. I know all about being a mang and being manly. I man so much that other men wish they could man as hard as I do. Yeah. Man stuff dude.

Poorly or Porn?

Ellyn Barnes

As someone who struggled to get through the first few four-minute episodes of One Room, I was surprised (okay, not that surprised) to find myself enjoying the guy version. I’ve discovered that this is most likely because it gets more suggestive every week, without a whiny female protag getting in the way of all the pretty boys. Which really helps me overlook the fact that it’s basically just pure trope wrapped up in mediocre animation.

If you’ve ever seen that “Anime or Porn” noises video, episode six of Room Mate basically gave off a similar impression, making it quite literally the hottest moment for me. Hot guy gets sick. Hot guy has a fever that gives him a flushed face. Hot guy makes panting and moaning sounds while lying on a bed. Hot guy makes embarrassed face at being fed rice porridge from an undeniably phallic spoon followed by more moaning. It’s all brilliant. Especially when their clothes all disappear in the end credits. I just wish there was a hentai version like with Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni...

I would pay gooood money to watch an 18+ of this show. Then anyone could be the protag. You, another guy… The porn possibilities are endless~

Entrapment?!

Jenangelx3

Alright my moment of the week is Warau Salesman’s first story arc in episode 7. The salesman gives a rather routine and mundane salaryman the ability to disguise himself as someone else entirely and live an adventurous life. Isobe, the salaryman, relishes in his new freedom and goes out to hostess clubs and izakaya. It is a little strange that he had never indulged in any of those practices before, especially the izakaya. Then the salesman gives Isobe a new apartment to go with his life where a wife and children live. How is that even possible?! Then the salesman makes a comment about how if Isobe gets tired of his second life and then retire to his first life.
What is the point of that? Isobe now has a magical second family that gives him grief while he left his happy family behind! Ah, what a mockery to the family dynamic. Yeah, I feel like the salesman trapped Isobe in this hell hole and he’s just going to have to resign his life to his old life to be happy and get out of the trap he is currently in. Jeez. To think he didn’t ask for anything at the beginning at all.

Uhhhhhh... Moguro-san?

Music is the answer

Rod Locksley

Curiously enough, my pick of the week is an anime that I’m not a fan of. I needed a change of pace, so I gave Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai a try, and I don’t know if it’s good or bad, but I enjoyed this musical thong… I mean, thing. Episode 5 is purely a fight between Lucifer and Astaroth, but it’s more enjoyable overall, even if you’re not here just to see voluptuous women fighting with little or no clothing.

At first, I thought Astaroth talking by rapping will go through the whole episode, but the moment I said “ok, this will be fun” she just started to talk normally. For me, this is an unfair war between a girl who definitely can rap and make music and a powerful wannabe driven by envy. Like, literally, because my girl Leviathan —Demon Lord of Envy— is her #1 supporter. Another thing we can note is that it seems that producing top-notch videos gets easier if you’re a demon, but anxiety can still affect you. The final moments of the episode was this show were suddenly they’re not rivals anymore and give us a wonderful crossover on stage. From rap to synth pop and your typical idol music, Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai explored music in a cool way. Can I have more of this, already?
