parasyte kiseijuu Capture

As children growing up, we’ve always had those fears of the boogeyman, or the freakish ghoul living in the closet. Those moments in our lives were definitely some of the most terrifying, since we were never sure whether these horrid creatures actually existed or not. What made them so scary was that our imaginations ran wild all the time which only manifested their existence even more. Fast forward to today where anime has become the new medium, and new ugly, terrifying creatures have popped up out of nowhere. Honey’s Anime presents the top 10 ugliest creatures in anime that make your whole body cringe with disgust and fear, as their looks are so ugly you feel like throwing up a little.

10. Danger Beasts - Akame ga Kill

  • Episodes: 24
  • Aired: July 7, 2014 - December 15, 2014

All hell has broken loose in the kingdom and it’s now up to the assassins known as the Night Raid to come and put an end to all of the chaos that’s causing panic. Tatsumi teams up with Akame and the other skilled killers to ensure that Prime Minister Honest doesn’t get his way, and that the people of the town will never suffer from poverty, strife, and ruin ever again. Tatsumi must now put his past aside and confront the challenges that await him and his team, as they fight for survival in a war full of incredibly strong foes and ugly looking creatures.

This army of horrid looking beings was just so strange to look at, simply because you couldn’t really tell what gender they were, and their deformities are just incredibly odd. This is one friend that you probably wouldn’t want to be seen around with, let alone even be its friend in the first place. Their glowing red eyes just spark terror in your very soul, and their movements are so unorthodox that it just gives you goosebumps.

9. Hamuko - Apocalypse Zero

  • Episodes: 2
  • Aired: October 23, 1996 - December 18, 1996

The entire world is in peril as numerous natural disasters have turned the world into rubble, and everyone is out to survive at all costs. Everyone has lost their mind except one young boy named Kakugo, who has been gifted with incredible martial arts and an extremely powerful suit of armor created by his late father. Now with these skills and special armor under his belt, Kakugo feels that his responsibility is to save the world from further ruin, but his sister too has powers of her own, but not to save mankind. Her mission is to save the world by wiping out all of humanity.

Apocalypse Zero is full of bizarre looking creatures that you’d probably only see in your imagination, but now they’ve all come to life on screen. One in particular is the freakishly looking Hamuko, who’s just a giant bulky woman with enormous exposed oppai, lip augmentation gone terribly wrong, and a smile that would probably make a clown cry. Her grotesque appearance is enough to make you want to throw up your lunch, and just scratch your head in bewilderment as to how she even survived for this long.

8. Envy Monster - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

  • Episodes: 64
  • Aired: April 5, 2009 - July 4, 2010

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the story of Alphonse and Elric, as they search the world for the powerful philosopher’s stone, so that they can revive their mother and restore their bodies. Using their powerful alchemy to get them out of trouble, the two brothers fight courageously to put a stop to the deadly terror that’s causing havoc and to restore peace back to a world riddled with corruption. However, a nationwide conspiracy needs to be taken care of, along with the dark history of the country that’s been exposed.

Envy is one of the creations from Father, who’s a maniacal old man who’s the progenitor of homunculus and is the oldest out of all of them. Envy is a genderless being who can take on the form of whatever it pleases, and many of these forms are extremely ugly. However, Envy has two true forms. One, in particular, is his unleashed form, where he takes on the appearance of what looks like a wolf that has a body swarming with tiny little heads that scream out in terrifying ways. What’s worse is that the heads belong to the souls that were used to create Envy’s core.

7. Yoma - Claymore

  • Episodes: 26
  • Aired: April 4, 2007 - September 26, 2007

In a world where humans coexist with predators called yoma, nothing is ever truly safe as these beasts love to feast on any human corpse lying around and take the form of humans to blend in with society. As a counter to these yoma creatures, an organization created half-human half-yoma warriors known as Claymores to put a stop to their chaos. Unfortunately, the Claymore are despised by humanity and aren’t trusted, that is until Clare and Raki step in to ensure that peace is restored to the kingdom and prevent any further lives from being taken. Clare devotes her life to her childhood promise and so she swears to fulfill that by any means necessary.

Yoma feast on human innards and then take on the form of a human, thus blending in with society. If that isn’t creepy enough for you, then imagine waking up to one next to you in the morning. We certainly wouldn’t want our breakfast in bed to be served by this frightful creature, and quite frankly, we wouldn’t want to be anywhere near them at all costs. Their deranged cat like eyes, grimacing smile, and deformed body structure is enough for us to press x on the window screen and end conversation immediately. The fact that they can just creep up out of nowhere with an unwelcome greeting is enough to turn anyone off, and plenty reason to place it on our list.

6. Deep Sea King’s Final Form - One Punch Man

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: October 5, 2015 - December 21, 2015

Saitama just had one thing on his mind and that was to become a hero for everyone to look up to. His 9 to 5 just wasn’t cutting it for him, and he needed more action in his life. So he trained like a beast until his hair follicles fell out and became the one punch man that we all know and love. Along the way he encounters an cyborg fighter named Genos who becomes his underling, as the two band together to fight the onslaught of terror that’s wreaking havoc on the city. Determined to become the best in the world, Saitama ensures that his training doesn’t go to waste and will fight just about any creature who stands in his way for the sake of humanity.

Saitama has come across a wide variety of pretty ugly creatures who are incredibly strong, but nothing tops the extreme ugly factor like Deep Sea King’s final form. This heaping pile of muscle is truly a masterpiece that transcends the ugliness spectrum, which places him in a league of his own with his big shark like teeth, googly eyes, and scaly skin. Fortunately for Saitama this wasn’t a battle for who’s the ugliest because he would’ve lost immediately, but surely enough Saitama ends our misery by laying a punch straight through his chest and bringing calm to our souls.

5. Demon Boar - Princess Mononoke

  • Episodes: 1
  • Aired: July 12, 1997

Ashitaka puts his life on the line to save his tribe when a ferocious demon boar attacks the village. The brave warrior makes easy work of this beast but his right arm is cursed by it during its dying moments. This curse granted him demonic powers but as a trade off, his life would slowly start to slip away. More problems arise as two major forces of nature are butting heads and humanity is desperately hanging on for dear life, so now Ashitaka’s new mission is to restore harmony between the opposing sides while battling the demon inside of him.

Boars are generally ugly to begin with, as they run around eating farm crops and making farmers lives miserable. Now you throw a demon boar into the mix and all hell breaks loose, as this boar not only eats crops but has a liking for anything that moves. Those worm like things coating its appearance only creates more fear in your heart as you watch it terrorize the village. It’s demonic red eyes are sure to make you poop yourself just a little bit, and it’s incredibly large stature is enough to intimidate just about anyone.

4. Parasytes - Parasyte: The Maxim

  • Episodes: 24
  • Aired: October 9, 2014 - March 26, 2015

Parasytes embed themselves in the brains of innocent humans who they encounter, taking on this vicious looking form that you don’t want to mess with. For Izumi, he fortunately somehow managed to avoid getting controlled, as Migi only made it’s way as far as his right hand. Now with all hell breaking loose, Migi informs Izumi of the dangers that lie ahead and that his kind isn’t the type to make friends with. Now with this new incredible ability in hand Izumi must now use his intellect and tactical thinking to make sure the threat is taken care of before it’s too late.

Izumi is one stressed out dude as he wakes up with an alien in his hand, his mother being slayed by one of these things, and now he’s the one who has to kill them all. Quite the new part time job for Izumi, but he makes easy work of these ugly things who shapeshift and wield sharp blades as weapons that can turn you into fresh human sashimi. They also have a large hideous mouth that can consume your body without much effort, talk about multi-talented! Whichever way you look at it, these freaks of nature are certainly something you wouldn’t want to encounter walking home from the subway, but then again you would never know since they look like normal humans.

3. Pandemonium - Gintama

  • Episodes: 201
  • Aired: April 4, 2006 - March 25, 2010

Gintama is just a show full of randomness right off the bat as Gintoki himself is a wandering and clueless being who seeks a job but can’t find one. Everything is in disarray as he tries to come up with a solution to his problems, but along the way encounters other crazy and wacky characters that only make you want to spit up your juice in laughter. Every episode is filled with some over the top animation that either makes you scratch your head in confusion, or laughing your head off at the references that are thrown into the mix. Whatever you fancy, Gintama is a bag full of joy that will surely bring out the best in you on a bad day.

As if bugs weren’t creepy enough already, Gintama had to throw in a nice oji-san looking face to really give it a boost in ugliness. The minute your eyes meet with this grim looking bug, your first intention is to probably look for the nearest slipper and send it to the next dimension. It’s name is very fitting as it’s sure to cause a lot of pandemonium if it were actually real and living in your home. Honey’s Anime are very fond of bees and other cute things, but this is not a bee and is not cute by any means. If your slipper doesn’t fit the bill, then try fire, and if that doesn’t suffice then try sulfuric acid to kill the bug.

2. Void - Berserk

  • Episodes: 25
  • Aired: October 8, 1997 - April 1, 1998

Guts is not a happy man right now, so it’s best that we let him do what he needs to do at this moment. Casca is taken from him, the friend who he trusted is now his worst enemy, and there’s even more problems along the way. Guts just can’t seem to get a break in Berserk no matter how much he tries to just settle down like any sane human. Unfortunately, settling down are two words he’s very unlikely to utter from his mouth, as he’s constantly fired up and ready to destroy souls with his huge sword that can chop through anything.

Void is one truly despicable thing, whatever it is. All we know is that someone forgot to put his scalp back on after the operation, because we can clearly see his brains pulsating each time he talks. There’s just a lot of things wrong with Void in so many ways, that it’s hard to comprehend it all. His lack of skin and towering appearance is enough to turn a grown man into a weeping baby, but we’ll give Void a plus for having a colgate smile. At least he takes care of his teeth, because you can’t be the main villain of the series with a horrible grin.

1. Tetsuo’s Final Form - Akira

  • Episodes: 1
  • Aired: July 16, 1988

A young boy with psychic powers causes an explosion in Tokyo and creates the start of World War III. For his cruel ways he’s captured and never to be heard from again. Fast forward into 2019 Neo-Tokyo where Kaneda leads a group of misfits known as The Capsules and is then thrown into the fire when Kaneda’s close friend Tetsuo is caught up in an accident with Akira, the same boy who caused all of the trouble in the first place. Now with new abilities in his body, Tetsuo now faces a bigger problem as he’s now the public enemy number one, and the government is out for his head.

There’s not much to be said about this behemoth blob of flesh and veins, because that’s pretty much what it is. Poor Tetsuo just wanted to live life as a bad boy and now he’s become a horribly disfigured creature with no mind of its own, and just wants to destroy everything. What really makes it so ugly is that for some reason, someone thought throwing on a baby face would just be spectacular, and they’re right. Tetsuo’s final form is certainly something we don’t want to see in our dreams, let alone our nightmares, we just want to cast it away somehow.
