3. JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Phantom Blood (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Blood Adventure)

  • Episodes: 90 min
  • Air Date: Feb 17, 2007

Based on the incredibly well known manga series and anime series, JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Phantom Blood or JoJo’ Bizarre Adventure is a series whose style can be found in most modern day anime as jokes or hidden references. That’s why it’s not surprising that it would have a film adaptation created. Spawning the first several volumes of the JoJo manga, the story follows a young man named Johnathan Joestar. Watch as this young man’s life enters a bizarre world that was once his everyday life all upon a chance meeting with a fellow man by the name of Dio Brando. The series of events that lead Johnathan, or JoJo as they call him, will entertain any who join him for the ride. Also we won’t spoil it but yes this series does contain a plethora of vampire warriors just in case you were wondering.

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Phantom Blood handled by studio A.P.P.P. is an amazing movie as it was a series. Odd characters, odd powers and a bizarre plot will make most who partake of JoJo’s world hooked upon the first few moments. Usually anime films that condense multiple arcs or parts can be done horribly done, luckily that isn’t the case with JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Phantom Blood. The twists and turns JoJo and friends take will leave them stunned and leave the viewers even more stunned as you can’t take your eyes off the screen for even a single moment. If you want to understand why characters in modern day anime sometimes yell Muda a thousand times, all you have to do is watch JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Phantom Blood to see where that comes from.

2. Vampire Hunter D (2000)

  • Episodes: 97 min
  • Air Date: Aug 25, 2000

In literature, typically vampires are hunted by the only ones who can, those who possess the same cursed vampiric blood in their veins. Enter the world of dunpeal or D as he is known by those who cross him.D’s heritage comes from a father who was a vampire and a normal human mother, he has always lived his life as an outcast but as well as a famous hunter of vampires. Thanks to his ability to find the hellish nightmares that are vampires, humans have come to accept D and even ask for help at times. Thus this tale truly begins when the vampire hunter himself is tasked with finding and retrieve a young woman named Charlotte Elbourne who has been taken. D will not have an easy job ahead of him as there are various others that have been given the okay to claim the bounty if they can. To make matters worse, the hunters will soon learn that someone has been watching and controlling their every action. What fate awaits D and those around him? You’ll only know if you watch Vampire Hunter D (2000)

Vampire Hunter D has always been a well-received series having been based on a very popular novel series. The tale of this vampire hunter has even leapt to the pages of manga just proving that D’s tale is a dark but enjoyable experience. Thankfully studio Madhouse has made another great adaptation showing their usual great animation style infusing mature themes with visceral action and fitting background music. Vampire Hunter D has had two movies, but the 2000s version is what we feel as the superior one of the two. The story of D and his plight is something that you will want to re-watch over and over and you’ll thank us later for showing you this dark vampire tale.

1. Kizumonogatari III: Reikersu-hen

  • Episodes: 93 mins
  • Air Date: Jan 6, 2017

Ending the prequel series to what happened to Koyomi Araragi prior to the series of Bakamonogatari, we look at the final film of this list and of this trilogy titled Kizumonogatari III: Reikersu-hen. Finally having defeated the threat that he faced, Araragi now has to face the strongest vampire being in existence by the name of Kiss-Shot-Acerola-Orion-Heart-Underblade. However, before their fated battle that will change both of their lives forever. Kiss-Shot tells Araragi the reality of the creature that is a vampire. Now filled with doubt and questions, Araragi must stand against Kiss-Shot regardless of his inner thoughts. Luckily his fellow classmate and new friend Tsubasa Hanekawa has used her wit to come up with a plan. If you wish to know what happens to Araragi prior to him meeting the girl who weighed nothing, you will need to watch the finale that is Kizumonogatari III: Reikersu-hen.

Yes we at Honey’s Anime realize this is the finale of the movie trilogy but regardless of the three Kizumonogatari III; Reikersu-hen is the one with the most impact. Again handled by legendary studio Shaft, the animation and odd visual cues that have been a staple to the series return but in high quality movie definition. Araragi’s tale has always had a missing narrative section in the light novels and anime series of Bakamonogatari, but fortunately Kizumonogatari III; Reikersu-hen fills in the blanks in a wonderfully epic way. We feel Kizumonogatari III; Reikersu-hen is a fitting conclusion to this short but interesting vampire film list. Now if you’ll excuse us, we feel like reliving this epic movie climax once more ourselves just to see the epic battle between vampire hybrid Araragi and Kiss-Shot-Acerola-Orion-Heart-Underblade.

While there may not be a lot of anime movies that focus on these legendary warriors of night we believe this list will satisfy your tastes. We here at Honey’s Anime believe that eventually there will be more films that focus on vampires, but luckily there are a lot more anime that do contain the legendary myths themselves. With that being said please leave some comments down below to let us know if we did miss a vampire anime movie out there hiding in the shadows. Also if you do want more articles that focus on vampires and other dark creatures be sure to stay glued to Honey’s Anime.
