Within Den City, a city where a network system has been developed, there exists an enterprise named SOL Technologies. They have engineered a high speed network called LINK VRAINS. There, they have constructed a VR space where people are going crazy to try a new form of dueling. However in LINK VRAINS, a new group of mysterious hackers known as the Knights of Hanoi have appeared and begun their hacking. Their goal? To decimate and destroy the world of AI known as Cyverse that exists somewhere in that network.

However, there is one duelist in LINK VRAINS who stands in their way. His name is Playmaker. In a battle with the Knights of Hanoi, he overwhelmingly crushed them and then without speaking, he left. His name became famous overnight. However that ‘Playmaker’ is no more than highschooler Yuusaku Fujiki. In order to find out the truth behind the Knights of Hanoi, he chases after the them in VRAINS.

Yuusaku has a cool and extremely sharp mind. He can demonstrate his skills as an adept hacker, and he excels at being able to judge his opponents and their thoughts the instant they do. When Yuusaku enters into VR space, he goes under the moniker Playmaker with his hairstyle and clothes changing. It is as if he transforms into a different person.

Aoi is a classmate of Yuusaku Fujiki. When she enters into VR Space, her account name is Blue Angel. She is a popular charisma duelist.

Gou Onizuka

When Gou enters into VR space his account name is GO Onizuka. He views Playmaker has his rival.
